Adoring Jesus, Loving People & Equipping the Church

Elders Statement on Worship

We believe that worship is a lifestyle, not something we do only on Sunday morning or other isolated times (Romans 12:1). When we do gather in unity for corporate worship, it is to praise our Creator, to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, and to be open to the transforming presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Worship is God-centered rather than man-centered.

We believe that our Father clearly calls us to sing songs and hymns (Psalm 149 and 150; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16), with all varieties of instruments, voice, and dance. We use the Word of God to bring us close to Him. Therefore, our songs of worship are based in Scripture.

We believe Scripture challenges us to “sing a new song” (Psalm 33:3, 40:3, 96:1, 98:1, 144:9, 149:1; Isaiah 42:10; Revelation 5:9 and 14:3) and pour new wine into new wineskins (Luke 5:36-39).

We believe worship is not a style or genre of music or a form of entertainment; it is a response and an offering to the Lord of lords and King of kings. It is not merely to be observed; it is to be given in the presence of God. It will fill your heart with joy.

We believe worship is inclusive, participatory, transformational, and creative, calling upon our gifts to express the mystery of God, proclaiming the unconditional love and acceptance of Jesus, and revealing the power of the Holy Spirit through music, drama, dance, and visual forms of artistic expression.
