Ministry & History: The mission of Siloam is to share the love of Christ by serving those in need through health care. As Jesus said to the blind man, "Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam" (John 9: 1-12), Siloam serves patients who lack insurance and who have difficulty accessing health services. Siloam utilizes a network of volunteer medical professionals and interpreters to provide care for our patients. Beyond primary care, Siloam provides opportunities for patients to receive specialty care including gynecology, endocrinology, dermatology and physical therapy.
Siloam has diagnosed and helped to treat patients with various forms of cancer, heart defects, lung disease and other life-threatening illnesses. A broad range of relationships with area specialists, labs and hospitals makes this extended care possible. Working with these community partners, we are able to offer tangible ways to help break the cycle of sickness breeding poverty and poverty breeding sickness.
Siloam ministers physical, emotional and spiritual health to the whole person by providing affordable, high-quality health care to the uninsured and those who slip through the cracks in the health care system because of time, money, transportation and language barriers. We strive to bring together the body of Christ, the Church, to do the work that Christ has called us to do – heal the sick and care for the poor. Currently the refugee/immigrant population represents more than 79% of Siloam’s patient load.
Patients are asked to participate in their health care by making a contribution depending on the services provided and their financial ability. No one is ever turned away because they cannot afford to contribute to the ministry. Siloam does not bill patients and does not file insurance.
